Back in the Saddle

I made it back from Texas on Monday. Mama Clara's funeral was Sunday. It was a real nice service and she looked beautiful lying in the casket she picked out herself. My cousin Chris got up and spoke to us before the preacher. He was probably the closest grandson to her having lived in the same town as her for his 52 years. He described her as being his best friend for his 52 years. he described her as being 88 pounds of dynamite and a good thing she had a long fuse. He said she's not here, we all know where she is, now she can spread her joy to others in Heaven. He is a musician and at the gravesite, he pulled out his guitar and played a song he wrote for her for this occasion. It talked about " close those baby blues" and such. It was real touching. My cousin Chris is truly one of a kind. He has two girls 19 and 17. He has been married twice. It's too bad that our family doesn't get together more often, we should. It's a short ride we're on. If you haven't already, tell somebody you love them.

Wow, 99, I don't think anyone in my family ever even made 99. Beautiful! Sounds like a story and a half.

Wow, that sounds moving. I love guitar live anyway, let alone at a loved one's funeral. I hope you had plenty of Kleenex handy.

Sorry for your loss!
