Kimo's Rules

  • I'm not exactly sure of the origin of Kimo or his rules but here they are as were given to me by registered massage therapist inthe 80's. 1. Never judge a day by the weather. 2. The best things in life aren' things. 3 Tell the truth--There is less to remember. 4. Speak softly and wear a loud shirt. 5. Loosen up -- The unaimed arrow never misses. 6. He who dies with the most toys -- Still dies. 7. Age is relative -- When you're over the hill --You picked up speed. 8. There are two ways to get rich -- You can make more or you can require less. 9. What you look like doesn't matter -- Beauty is internal. 10. No Rain -- No Rainbows.

First day of summer and a bummer in big D

It's over. The Miami Heat are the 2006 NBA champions. Congrats to them. It's hard to believe that the Mavs won the first two and lost the next four. Sad but true. The Mavs are a young team and will only get better. I've always liked and admired Pat Riley. He won a NBA title as a player in 1972. Now in 2006, he wins another title at age 61. A total of 5 as a player and coach. A class act. It's not the way the Mavs and Mavs fans planned to start the summer but that's the way it is. Here's hoping for a better year next year, Go Mavs!

9 months and 2 Wins

Seasons Greetings, It is kinda hot here which is not normal. 88 degrees is rare and it lasts only for a couple of hours, back to 50 at night. Now then The Mavs are 2 wins away from the NBA title. Game 4 is tonight in Miami. Go Mavs! Now then, today it has been 9 months (271) days since I have consumed any alcohol whatsoever. YEAH! I never considered myself to be an alcoholic but I may well be. It became harder and harder to moderate my consumption so I just quit. I went to a few of the AA meetings, and I like the 12 steps and have read a couple of books on the subject. I plan never to drink again, not a drop. I quit smoking in '95 and glad I did. Now then, I guess that's about it for now. GO MAVS!

Just 4 more wins

Sports fans and non-sports fans, the stage is set. The Mavs and the Heat will take on each other in the NBA Finals. It is the first time for either team to reach the Finals. It starts in Dallas this Thursday night. The Mavs have the home court advantage which should help their cause. Most analyists favor the Mavs, I also. I really think this their year to win it all. Besides that not much news here. We had a little rain but we need a lot more. The National forest is closed due to extreme fire danger. No camping there, no charcoal anywhere, no fireworks and no watering our lawns. Bucket watering is allowed for plants. We also have a water crisis here. I go outside of the house to take a leak a lot to save the 2 to 4 gallons it take to flush the toilet. Its cool because I have a large lot with lots of trees . It's part of my conservative nature. Plus in the winter, I get to write stuff in the snow. A good thing about living at 7000 feet is that it seldom gets above 84 degrees, and that is only for a few hours a day. It's cool. The average low temp in July is 48 degrees. Off to see Foreigner in concert tonight. I saw them in '78. I'll see how they compare to their hayday in the 70s.
